The College of Microelectronics at Tongji University is one of the first 26 demonstrative colleges of microelectronics in China. It was established on the basis of the Department of Electronic Science and Technology after the merge of the Institute of Large-scale Integrated Circuits, the Institute of Microelectronics and the Institute of Semiconductor. In 2017, the Department began to admit master students in Electronic Science and Technology and Integrated Circuit Engineering. It set up independent and interdisciplinary doctoral and master's programs in Microelectronics Science and Engineering and started to recruit doctoral and masters’ students in 2018. In 2019, it set up the undergraduate program in Microelectronics Science and Engineering and started to enroll undergraduate students. As a result, a comprehensive educational and talent cultivation system for bachelor, master and doctoral students is now established in Microelectronics Science and Engineering.
Supported by the College of Microelectronics at Tongji University, the Microelectronics Science and Engineering Major has purpose-built and state-of-the-art facilities including a key laboratory of the MOE for embedded systems and service computing as well as well-equipped laboratories for supervisors and postgraduates. Among the 26 demonstration Colleges of Microelectronics and new engineering disciplines in China, the Major was the first to hve set up interdisciplinary doctoral and master's programs in microelectronics science and engineering with a comprehensive educational and talent cultivation system of bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. In addition, the Major has launched the Pilot Reform Program of Enrollment for Basic Subjects in cooperation with the School of Physical Science and Engineering as part of an effort to practice a joint program of bachelor, master and doctoral degrees for the cultivation of high-caliber talents.
Core courses include: Circuit Theory, Introduction to Information and Microelectronics Science, Analog Electronic Technology, Digital Electronic Technology, Electromagnetic Field and Wave, Electronic Technology Experiment, Signals and Systems, Data structure, Semiconductor Physics, High-frequency Electronic Circuit, Analysis and Design of Analog Integrated Circuits, Digital Integrated Circuits Analysis and Design, Computer Architecture and Processor Design, Principle of Semiconductor Devices, Principle of Integrated System Chip Design, and Microelectronic Process Technology.
