On December 19, 2025, the 88th Zhi Xin Forum was held in Lecture Hall 117 at the Zhi Xin Building, which was jointly organized by the College of Electronic and Information Engineering and Shanghai Institute of Intelligent Science and Technology of Tongji University. Prof. Xuguang Lan from Xi'an Jiaotong University, was invited to give a lecture on “World Model Driven Autonomous Learning of Robots”.

During the presentation, Professor Lan explored the landscape of Embodied AI, addressing the critical challenges robots face when navigating the physical world. To transcend current limitations, he introduced a novel self-evolving framework that integrates perception, learning, imagination, and feedback to enhance system flexibility and efficiency.Key technical highlights include autonomous task execution via visual commonsense reasoning and a world model-driven approach to predictive control and multi-robot synergy. Professor Lan also showcased the successful deployment of these algorithms in high-stakes sectors such as aerospace, smart logistics, and complex multi-player gaming, underscoring their potential for real-world industrial transformation.

After the report, Prof. Lan had a cordial exchange and discussion with the participating teachers and students, and he also encouraged them to actively broaden their horizons, explore, discover and solve new scientific problems based on his own experience. This report further expanded the vision of our teachers and students and enhanced their understanding and knowledge of world models.
