On May 20, the 80th Zhi Xin Forum was held in Lecture Hall 224 at theTongxinBuilding, which was jointly organized by the College of Electronic and Information Engineering and Shanghai Institute of Intelligent Science and Technology of Tongji University. Prof. Yongduan Song from Chongqing University, was invited to give a lecture on “Ubiquitous Automation and Intelligence: Current Status and Trends”.
In this report, Professor Song presented the current state of automation and intelligence across various sectors, including manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, and financial services. He analyzed how these technologies are being advanced through cutting-edge innovations such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the Internet of Things. In addition, Professor Song discussed the challenges posed by automation and intelligence, such as technological ethics, data privacy, and employment impacts. Looking ahead, he explored future development trends and emphasized the importance of maintaining sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, while ensuring that the benefits of intelligence are shared fairly across all segments of society.

After thereport, Prof. Song had a cordial exchange and discussion with the participating teachers and students, and he also encouraged them to actively broaden their horizons, explore, discover and solve new scientific problems based on his own experience. Thisreport further expanded the vision of our teachers and students and enhanced their understanding andknowledgeof automation and intelligence.
