On November 14th, the 2024 Qidi Scholarship Award Ceremony was held at Zhixin Building in Jiading Campus. Former Vice Minister of Education and Former President of Tongji University, Wu Qidi, Vice President of Tongji University, Xu Xuejun, Minister of the Organization Department of the Party Committee, Wang Jun, Director of the Information Office, Xu Weisheng, Executive Vice Director of the Women's Committee, Xiao Hui, as well as the management members, teachers, students, and alumni representatives from the College of Electronic and Information Engineering and the School of Computer Science and Technology attended the event together. The ceremony was moderated by the Dean of College of Electronic and Information Engineering Chen Hong.
On behalf of the University, Vice President Xu Xuejun expresses his sincere gratitude and highly respect to Former President Wu Qidi and all alumni for their continuously donating funds to the Qidi Scholarship, and warmly congratulates all award-winning students. He pointed out that under the continuous care and support from Former President Wu, the influence and coverage of Qidi Scholarship continues to expand and inspires more and more outstanding students to actively promote and inherit the spirit of Qidi Scholarship, which is pursuing truth, striving for excellence, forging ahead, and innovations. In the 117 year journey of striving for excellence in education, Tongji University has cultivated countless outstanding talents for the country and the nation. All of this attribute to the sense of responsibility and belief of generations of educators such as former president Wu Qidi, who have nurtured talents for the Party and the country with their original aspirations, promoting the school's important educational indicators and overall strength to constantly reach new heights. Vice President Xu also shares the hope that all award-winning students could shoulder the mission entrusted by the times, be big-hearted, aim high, and be at the forefront of the innovation journey of "digitalization, greenization, and integration", as well as empower with expertise to help "Tongji Wisdom" shine in various fields.
In the academic year of 2022-2023, a total of 20 students were awarded Qidi scholarship. The representative of the Qidi Scholarship donor, Professor Qiao Fei announced the list. Professor Wu Qidi awarded the Qidi Scholarship certificates to the 11 award-winning students. Professor Wu Qidi expressed gratitude to all the donors who have contributed to the Qidi Scholarship, stated that the Qidi Scholarship embodies the joint efforts and selfless dedication of alumni and teachers who are concerned about the development and talent cultivation of the college with the establishment purpose of recognizing the outstanding performance of undergraduate students in scientific and technological innovation, and hopes that students will actively participate in various competition activities and practical projects while focusing on academic achievements, in order to enhance their innovation ability. Professor Wu also encourages the students to explore, to be innovated, and to apply the knowledge and skills learned into practice, as well as to contribute to national scientific and technological progress and social development.
